On Friday May 21, 2021 Housatonic Valley Regional High School dedicated its Baseball Field in honor of Edward M. Kirby, a 1945 alumnus of the school who returned to distinguish himself as a teacher, coach, historian, HVRHS principal, and assistant superintendent of the Connecticut Region One School District.

The HVRHS Alumni Association initiated a fundraising effort to make significant improvements to the field, to support the school’s earth science program and to award scholarships in Kirby’s name

The Ed Kirby Field dedication ceremony was attended by members of the Kirby family, school officials, members of the Alumni Association Board of Directors, and leadership donors and friends.

Below is the Dedication Program and the list of leadership donors.

There is also a video of the ceremony that appears at the bottom.

Great dedication today for the ED KIRBY field, and Housatonic pulls off the upset with a 10 run win against Thomaston to finish with six straight wins and a trip to the state playoffs.

Only fitting that Ed’s grand nephew, Keaton Terrell gets the win for the Mountaineers......
